Enduro race series comes to an end

The eighth and final round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series was held in the Okahandja district recently.
The event, co-sponsored by Waldschmidt Eggs, saw 67 riders line up to take on the sand, rocks and obstacles the organisers had included in the race.
With this being the last race for the 2012 season, there were some riders that needed the finish to wrap up the championship. Seventy five percent of the competitors managed to complete the race while some suffered mechanical problems and others did not finish due to tough and demanding conditions.
In the Class 1 battle, Kai Hennes came out first and secured the championship while Ingo Waldschmidt won the Open National Class as well as the championship seeing off a spirited challenge by Phillip Mentrup who came second in the race.
In the Ladies Quad Class, Maike Bochert was back to her winning ways, beating Shannon Rowland and securing the championship. Windzor Huselman won the quad class after securing the championship in the previous race.
The duo of Fanie Steenkamp and Andreas Brendel won their respective classes in the Master Quads and Bikes to wrap up the championships in first place.
In the 200cc Class, it was Kai Hennes who secured victory ahead of Jörn Greiter and Claude Brendel while Windzor Huselman secured victory in the National Quad Class ahead of Heiko Bernstein.
Maike Bochert secured victory in the Ladies Quad class ahead of Shannon Rowland in second and Julia Moths in third.
Andreas Brendel, Chairman of the Namibia Enduro Club said with racing now done for the 2012 season, the riders can take a break and plan for next year. He thanked Bank Windhoek for their annual support.
