M & K Gertze High School from Rehoboth recently toppled Eldorado High School and is current log leaders of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) women Under-20 league after six rounds of tantalising football and this will see M & K Gertze compete at the upcoming Zone VI Games to be held in Zimbabwe.
M & K Gertze High got two goals and earned three points to go top of the log after their opponents Jan Jonker Secondary from Katutura failed to pitch for the encounter at the Eldorado High School Sports Field in Khomasdal. The Rehoboth-based ladies then demolished Cosmos High 5-0. M & K Gertze sits top of the log on 16 points after six games played.
In second place on 12 points is Eldorado High, who lost 2-1 to the Galz & Goals Team lover the weekend. Okahandja Schools team only managed to get victory on their third match of the league as they beat Centaurus High 4-1 to earn position five on the log on four points.
Cosmos High School managed a win over the weekend, as they overcame a resilient A. Shipena High side 2-0. Cosmos are sixth on the log on four points after five games with A. Shipena, having drawn only once, sitting in eighth place after five games.

League coordinator Cole Mungendje said that the league is expected to be completed by the end of July in Windhoek.
She said, “The girls have shown their willingness to play and they have to juggle school and football. It has not been easy, but we are looking at concluding by end of this month.”
The Namibia Football Association said that the league is aimed at preventing a gap in players’ development in women football and additionally produces players for the annual Zone VI team.
The Namibia ladies team for the Zone VI Games will be coached by experienced mentor Max Johnson who will be assisted by Bertus Bock. Bock is also the chief scout.
