Peter Brinkmann is certainly one of the favourites for this Saturday’s Beach Volleyball tournament but it depends who his partner is.

The sixth tournament of the Maerua Superspar Series which is part of the Kia Namibia National Beach Volleyball Tour will offer under 21 national team players, Tin Hlupic and Gerard Fischer the perfect opportunity to take over the top spot of the men’s category this Saturday.

Lück currently holds first place with 117 points to his name, with Hlupic and Fischer close on Lück’s, heals with 110 points each. However, Lück wont participate in this weekend’s tournament due to other commitments. This will give the two youngsters perfect opportunity to take over the lead. Last tournament Lück and his partner Peter Brinkmann – currently on 4th place with 85 points- dominated the youth team in their final game.
In addition, the women’s category has been dominated by Simone von Wietersheim and Anita Kinder ever since the duo of Wiebke Hoeritzauer and Antje Kesselmann had to put the title ambitions on hold. Von Wietersheim and Kinder look set to continue their dominance come Saturday. However, some of the young players like Maraike Talkenberg, Maike Brandt, Kim Seebach and Stephanie Palmhert will push hard to upset the solid positions of the best players
The level of competitiveness in the youth and social divisions must not be underestimated. These matches can lead to surprising outcomes. Arne Putensen currently holds the top spot with 65 points, but the opposition is set to go out with all guns blazing to fight for the win. Bjoern Baas with 48 points, Robby Echelmeyer, Phillip Schulz and Mark Brinkmann, all with 45 points, are within striking distance to take over the lead. The teams have still to be decided. Beach Volleyball players can participate in the in the 2-a-side or 4-a-side format.
