Ian Leyenaar CEO of FNB Namibia takes his bank’s new website for a test drive.

FNB Namibia last week announced the unveiling of its updated, fully-scalable banking website, which automatically detects and adapts to the device from which the site is accessed. These can range from conventional PC’s to multiple smart devices. The new website is designed to be familiar to customers, but offers a depth of interaction that was not possible without a comprehensive re-engineering project. Some of the enhancements include an improved user experience; touchscreen-friendly, easy buttons and menus; and responsive design enabling scalability to multiple devices with layered, seamless security.
“This is a first on the African continent. Unlike other banking sites, the revised FNB site is not stripped down for devices with smaller screens or simply compressed to these. The site automatically detects and adapts to the device being used”, said FNB’s CEO Ian Leyenaar “FNB has been reviewing banking websites across the world for the past two years to benchmark itself and we currently have over 1.5 million online banking customers in South Africa and over 46,000 in Namibia and expect this to increase with the new and enhanced platform.”
“We have set out to give FNB Online customers a user experience that builds on everything they already love, is as close as possible to perfect for ease of use and will offer a steadily evolving level of banking intelligence,” said Leyenaar. “We have created a site that may appear to be minimalist, but we have done this to enable intuitive use and as customers engage, they will find an interactive platform”  The re-launched site will be further enhanced in coming months. The CEO said FNB will add additional levels of functionality to the site. The site was developed entirely by FNB’s own online developers.
