Klein-Aus Vista MTB Challenge grows

Last year’s riders participating in the 4th edition of the Klein-Aus Vista MTB Challenge.

This year’s KIA mountain bike series will kick-off the first week of May when Namibia’s elite riders take to the south, to compete at the 5th Klein-Aus Vista MTB Challenge.

The first part of the two-day race through the Aus Mountains, labelled with the slogan “Tough-Scenic-Rewarding,” will start on Saturday, 02 May, with the second stage scheduled for Sunday 03 May.
Interested riders can still submit their entries for either the 35km half marathon or the 70 km full marathon. The race entry fee includes a race pack with a cycling shirt, Sunday evening dinner as well as meal tickets for every day.
This year more categories have been introduced to give more recognition to the riders according to their age groups. The organisers have also introduced the Racing Rhino category to accommodate the heavier men and women for both the full and half marathon. Men weighing in over 90kg on the race registration day qualify for this category. Women weighing in over 70kg on the race registration day also qualify to register for the Racing Rhino category.
Race coordinator Piet Swiegers wants to make sure that the standard of the full marathon meets international criteria.
He therefore advises riders to decide according to their skills and fitness levels, to choose either the full or the half marathon.
For kids there will be an 18 km track and they can enter on the day of registration. They should note, that this loop is mainly a single track. For toddlers there is a marked 2 km track close to the lodge.
On each day there will be prizes awarded for the top-5 participants in all categories, provided that there are five riders in a category.
For the overall male winner, the Victor Ludorum, the prize money is N$10,000 and, for the first time, the overall female winner (Victrix Ludorum) will also receive N$10,000.
