Eurowings to land at Hosea Kutako Airport soon
Low-cost airline, Eurowings will commence operations at Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA), with it first flight to Windhoek set for 13 July.
The airline specialises in affordable direct flights within Europe and from its Cologne/Bonn location to attractive long-haul destinations.
Eurowings will join the fray of other international birds, like KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines that started operations last year.
Namibia Airports Company (NAC), Strategic Executive: Commercial Services, Toska Sem in an update on some of the activities undertaken during first quarter of the financial year (April-June) this week said, the new route will operate two weekly direct flights on a Monday and Thursday with the airbus A330-200 that accommodates 310 passengers.
Besides the international airlines, the country’s flagship airport also caters for for Air Namibia, South African Airways, South African Express, British Airways (Comair) and TAAG Angola
According to Sem, in efforts to alleviate infrastructural overload and create favourable atmosphere for the customers, NAC in collaboration with their airport stakeholders, have introduced portable check-in counters to ease the dreaded queues, amongst others.
Eurowings currently offers more than 140 destinations in over 40 countries worldwide.
