Ogilvy recognised at African Excellence awards

Local advertising firm, Ogilvy & Mather Namibia was awarded the first African Excellence Award late last month in the Corporate Advertising category at the International Excellence Awards.
The Excellence Awards have been celebrating the achievements of communication practitioners for the past nine years in Europe and last year decided to expand the Awards structure for a more global reach to the following regions: Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa and North America.
Communications Director and Chairman of the Jury, Rudolf Hetzel, in addressing Ogilvy Namibia for the accomplishment of being the first recipient in Africa to win an award in the category of Corporate Advertising said, “Your project has been recognised by our distinguished Jury as one of the most outstanding PR and communications cases in your region over the last year.”
The award was granted for the agency’s “Brandulance” concept and is set to officially accept the prestigious award during the African Excellence Awards Winners’ Gala Dinner on 21 April in Cape Town, South Africa. The proudly Namibian agency was also listed as a finalist in the Brand Relationship category for the same concept entry.
“This is a testament of our team’s commitment, blue-sky thinking and passion for every project undertaken!,” Anny Mouton, Managing Director of Ogilvy Namibia explained.
David Ogilvy famously described Ogilvy & Mather as “the teaching hospital of the advertising world” in a memo to the Group’s Board of Directors back in 1978. It was in using this idea that the Brandulance was created out of the company’s red Ogilvy Van.
It is the agency’s reminder that should there be any advertising or marketing emergency, or a brand be in dire need of assistance, there is only one agency to call: Ogilvy & Mather Namibia. As such, Ogilvy serves to nurture and empower young marketing and creative professionals, equipping them with invaluable industry experience and market insights drawn from a global agency network.

Typesetter

Today the Typesetter is a position at a newspaper that is mostly outdated since lead typesetting disappeared about fifty years ago. It is however a convenient term to indicate a person that is responsible for the technical refinement of publishing including web publishing. The Typesetter does not contribute to editorial content but makes sure that all elements are where they belong. - Ed.
