Black Africa: ‘We will remain champions’

Runaway log leaders, Black Africa will this weekend visit the coastal town of Walvis Bay on a team-building tour as part of the team’s partnership with its principal sponsor, First National Bank.
According to chairman, Cassius Moetie, the partnership supports Black Africa, who will by any means necessary defend and retain the MTC/NPL Championship for the second consecutive football season.
Moetie said that all Namibia Premier League (NPL) clubs want to remove Black Africa from its position as Namibian football champions, thus the Walvis Bay tour is important to get the players in the right frame of mind.
“We are aware that most, if not all NPL clubs, have reinforced themselves by signing new players for the second round. We are also aware that the teams at the second, third, fourth and fifth places of the NPL Log Standings are all focusing their attention on BA,” said Moetie.
The objective of the Walvis Bay tour is to strengthen the team spirit of the club as well as the mental capacity of the players to endure the enormous pressure the second round will present. “The second round will without a doubt, be very competitive and this is why the Walvis Bay tour is important to get our players in the right frame of mind,” he said.
Dixon Norval, head of FNB strategic marketing and communications, said that they are delighted with the professional partnership they have with Black Africa as the league champions and will be delighted if Black Africa retains the MTC/NPL Premiership for the second time under their sponsorship.
“We applaud the Black Africa tour to Walvis Bay as it is an outreach programme where the champions will host a football clinic for young footballers. The young footballers will have an opportunity to engage with their football role-models and they will hopefully learn a few expert tricks from the champions and even collect an autograph or two,” he said.
The tour will be a combination of football, socialisation and public relations acitivities. The club will host a football clinic for school children on Saturday, 28 January at 09h00 and play a friendly against Blue Waters at the Kuisebmund Stadium at 16h00 that same day. BA is inviting all football lovers to go and watch the friendly match.
