The Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group of Companies recently announced the O&L Value Stars of 2013 at an event held in Windhoek. The 9 lucky overall value stars will be treated to an all-expense paid Edutain trip to Durban in South Africa where fun and education are sure to lead to an unforgettable journey.
The nine winners are: Danny Isaacs from Broll Namibia; Byron Vries of Dimension Data; Agatha Doeses of Hangana Seafood; Epafraditus Ingo from Kraatz Marine; Josef Haibeb from O&L Leisure; Loren Green of NBL; Helmuth Mouton of Namibia Dairies; Martin Theron of O&L Centre and Paulus Mukoya of Model Pick n Pay.
Berthold Mukuahima, Group Human Capital Director explained: “Every month, each Operating Company of the O&L Group elects an Employee of the month per department based on the criteria of attendance, teamwork and living the value (the 7 values rotate on a monthly basis).”
“A committee then elects the monthly Value Star from all the departments to be the monthly winner of that specific Operating Company. The overall winner is then chosen from all the monthly winners to be the Overall Value Star and the selection is based on their commitment, dedication, consistent hard work, professionalism and living up to the seven values of the Group at all times.”
This year, the nine overall Value Star winners will be rewarded with an Edutain trip to Durban that is a combination of education and entertainment, and for some of them it will be an experience of a life-time as it will be their first time to go beyond the Namibian borders.
Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of the O&L Group of Companies in his address thanked the Value Stars of all the operating companies and advised that all of them are winners due to their attitude, breakthrough thinking and overall beyond-the-call-of-duty dedication.
He motivated the employees and shared with them six rules on how to be successful which included the fact that they “should trust themselves, practice breakthrough thinking, not be afraid of failing, ignore naysayers, work like hell and give back”. He concluded with a famous quote: “Just remember – you cannot climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets.”
