Golf enthusiasts and other sports lovers will next month have a chance to tee off with their sporting idols at this year’s annual Bank Windhoek Golf Day which will be played at the Windhoek Country Club.
Golfers will have the opportunity to play alongside sporting legends such as Amos Shiyuka, Sandro de Gouveia, Brian Baloyi, Aubrey Martyn, Stephen Jefferies, Alan Dawson, Garth le Roux, Adrian Kuiper and Brian MacMillan at the golf day which is in aid of charity.
People interested in taking part in this noble event should enter a team of three players and then bid to play with the sports legends of their choice. The money raised on the day will go towards charity.
The sports legends will not be paid to come to Namibia. Bank Windhoek MD, Christo de Vries said it was great to see cricketers and soccer players opening their hearts to raise funds for welfare in another country.
“I am sure that our golfers will, in turn, ensure that they make all the legends feel welcome and that they will bid hard to attain the services of these legends. The participation of the legends is an example of how one can give back to society through sport.”
He said that the bank is getting support from companies in the private sector to make this day a reality.
The Kalahari Sands Hotel is sponsoring accomodation for the visiting legends, while Air Namibia chipped in with a good discount, AVIS Car Rental is sponsoring two mini buses to transport the sports legends, Barchan Dune Retreat is sponsoring a hunt and accommodation for some of the players, Xco Namibia assisted with promotional items The sister companies in the CIH Group of companies will also be part of the day.
Head of Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek, Riaan van Rooyen thanked their partners for supporting the initiative.
The Bank Windhoek Golf Day in aid of Welfare will take place on 21 September, at the Windhoek Country Club. Entry fee per team is N$3500 and includes a registration gift for each player, refreshments during the day and dinner at the prize-giving ceremony. Each team will also receive a prize.
