Omusati crowned champions

Omusati won the Namibian Newspaper Cup trophy for the first time after beating Oshikoto 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout, following 120 minutes of a pulsating 1-1 draw on Easter Monday at the Outjo Sports Stadium.

In a final match of the 2015 Namibian Newspaper Cup that had the crowd on the edge of their seats, Oshikoto took the lead in the first half through a goal by Desmond Kharigub. Omusati gradually got back into the game and after missing an opportunity when Calvin Spiegel could not control a shot and spilled the ball, Christopher Johannes scored their equalizer from a corner midway through the second half which lead to the dreaded penalty shootout. Oshikoto Desmond Kharigub won the Top Goal scorer’s accolade after finding the back of the net five times during the four-day under-20 football competition.
