The Bank Windhoek Fistball Championship will kick off  on Saturday at the SFC Sport Club in Swakopmund.
Favourites to win the National A league are serial champions, SKW 1. The team with the most capped national team player, Michael Baas, had a good start to the season, when they won the season’s first silverware at the Bank Windhoek season opening tournament held three weeks ago.

They will, however, be without their setter, Michael Zimny, who will be unable to attend due to professional commitments. Tough competition will come from SKW 2 who have national team captain, Christoph Kubirske, in their ranks.
SKW 1 can also expect a strong challenge from Cohen FC 1 who showed a good performance early in the season. They will have to compensate for the loss of spiker, Viggo von Scheliha, who is not available for selection, due to professional reasons. The home team, SFC 1, will need to improve on their performance if they want to make an impact this season. The team showed potential last season, when they ended the season on a high note after reaching the final of the Bank Windhoek National Cup competition.
In the National B League, five teams will be in action. Defending champions, SKW 3, will hope to start their campaign with a couple of wins. They face tough opposition from the team of Cohen FC 3 who are considered favourites in this competition. A team to watch is DTS, who always delivers a surprise. Although SFC 2 only managed fourth place in the season opening tournament, they have a well-balanced side that might not have the potential to win the championship, but which could make life difficult for some of the top teams.
All eyes will be on the national team players who are busy with their preparations for the Men’s Fistball World Championships. The team will be travelling to Argentina in November where the tournament will be held in the province of Cordoba. The current squad of fifteen players will be reduced to a final ten player squad over the following months.
