On Tuesday FNB Namibia once again renewed their three-year sponsorship to the FNB Wanderers rugby club.
The bank sponsored N$200,000 and a further amount of N$80 000 to an organizing committee consisting of FNB Wanderers Rugby Club and FNB Western Suburbs to arrange an annual derby between these two teams.

Further, should FNB Wanderers be crowned as the league champions, a further N$50 000 will be added by FNB as an incentive bonus.
In his address at the official hand over Dixon Norval, Head of Strategic Marketing and  Communications at FNB Namibia said that FNB understood the importance of developing sport, including the game of rugby, hence the FNB Wanderer’s team benefiting from this in many ways. “It must be mentioned that the continuation of the sponsorship, in partnership with FNB Wanderers, is due to the business plan developed by the leadership of the club and its plans to take the club and Namibian rugby forward,” he said.
Norval added that FNB had rugby on its mind and that was evident by the support the bank rendered to the FNB Welwitchias for their participation in the Vodacom Cup and the FNB Wanderers rugby club support.
Meanwhile Flip Louw of FNB Wanderers Rugby Club said, “it is interesting to remember that Wanderers Rugby Club was established on 20 February 1920 by officials of the old Barclays Bank, today FNB. The club thus continues to enjoy a long and fruitful history of friendship with FNB as well as service to the Namibian community.”
