SBS cycling team off to the Cape
Off to the Cape: The team members are f.l.t.r., Isak Farmer, Riaan Beukes, Hester (WIB), Clauss Beukes, Gerhard Maasdorp and Nickel April. Xavier Papo, Stefanus Feris and Karina Mouwers were not present at the handover.
The cycling team consists of eight cyclists, some of whom are well-known in the cycling circles and also recently took part in the Cycle Challenge Road Race in Windhoek over the weekend. The team members are Isak Farmer (12th year of participation), Gerhard Maasdorp (12th year of participation), Nickel April (3rd year of participation), Riaan Beukes (12th year of participation), Clauss Beukes (Captain and 11th year of participation), Xavier Papo (4th year of participation), Stefanus Feris (5th year of participation) and Karina Mouwers (2nd year of participation and on a Tandem bike). The Cape Town Cycle Tour takes place every year and is the largest timed cycling event in the world. This is the 38th year the event is taking place and 35,000 cyclists are expected to line up to ride the 109 km route. Speaking at the handover, Hester van der Westhuizen, Executive Consultant: Commercial Lines at WIB said,“Welwitschia Insurance Brokers is proud to be associated with the SBS Cycling Team, headed by Claus Beukes. With his vision and leadership, we are confident that they will perform well at the Cape Town Cycle Tour in South Africa.”
