Windsurfers break records

A hoard of international surfers took to the waters in Lüderitz, defied gravity and improved several wind surf records, in particular, a certain Andrew Redfern who managed to improve upon his record 8 times, achieving breakneck speeds of 51.09 knots
Not to be out done, Czech national Martin Toth broke his record 3 times, achieving a speed of 44.63 knots and local surfer Matthias Rottcher who made his debut at the Chris Benz Lüderitz World Record Chase after the trio opened proceedings for the tournament.
Three days into the tournament, Toth continued to show impressive form, setting a new record of 44.92 knots three days into the tournament. Dutch national Jacques van der Hout achieved a personal best of 49.06 knots.

Frenchman Anders Bringdal achieved the best speeds on the fourth day of the tournament, notching 50.38 knots. South African surfer Mark Grinnell set a National record, managing to register 49.92 knots. Local boy Rottcher was however unable to break his record and managed to climb only to 47.23 knots.
The tournament is expected to run the full course of the month and concludes on 2 November.
