Design Indaba comes to Windhoek

FABLab Namibia will bring the world renowned Design Indaba of Cape Town to Windhoek for those who cannot attend the actual event in South Africa, from 1 to 3 March, at the FNCC in Windhoek.

The event will be the creative hub of Namibia as all the sessions, activities and speakers are live streamed straight to the big screens at FNCC.

FABLab said they also teamed up with 99FM for the event and local innovators, designers and artists will also be present to share in the inspiring and creative solutions.

Apart from the live streaming simulcast of the Design Indaba, FABLab and 99FM will also host a series of three movie nights at FNCC during the period. The movies screened will focus on local talent and films made by our very own Namibian filmmakers, showcasing our Nations very own creativity and talent.

According to FABLab, the local film family is excited to participate in the 2017 Design Indaba through hosting the 3-day CinemaFest at the FNCC with 99fm as media partner.

RedHot Film Productions and Joe Vision Production are facilitating the CinemaFest and the two said the event is the perfect platform to link to the Indaba themes, create synergy, and to retain the audiences who attend the daily screenings.

With the Namibia Theatre and Film Awards around the corner on 25 March, and preceded by a film- screening week from 11-17 March, the Indaba will launch into a ‘Month of Movies’ in March, shining the spotlight on the local film industry and where it’s heading in a local and global context.

The three days will comprise of film screenings and conversations about the status quo in Namibian film industry and where it is heading in the future in a local and global context.

Furthermore it will offer a great opportunity to meet some of the local filmmakers and experience their works along with the creative excitement of the Indaba.

“It is all very exciting, the Design Indaba is at the very forefront of design, creativity, innovation and technological development in Africa, with us bringing it to Windhoek, we are fulfilling our passion and sharing it with all like-minded individuals in Namibia,” said Kirstin Wiedow, co-director of Fablab Namibia.
