Goju-Ryu produces more Black Belts

The Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Association of Namibia recently presented a Black Belt grading test to its students.

The grading panel of Senior Black Belts were led by Sensei Carl van der Merwe, 6th Dan Chief Instructor of Namibia.
Candidates had to write a written exam testing their historical and technical knowledge of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate. They also had to complete a 2 hours fitness test and a 3 hours physical grading test during which their technical knowledge, perseverance and tenacity were tested. The successful candidates were: Rowan Carstens, 2nd Dan; Shirleen de Wee, 2nd Dan and Phortune Karongee, 1st Dan.
