Gariseb the chess master

National Junior Chess Champion Immanuel Gariseb successfully defended his title at the Walvis Bay Junior Open championship.

Following the successful hosting of the inaugural Walvis Bay Open Chess Tournament less than a month ago, the misty town once again opened its doors to play home to yet another tournament, The Namibian Junior Open Chess Championships 2015. The event was attended in numbers as neither distance nor the cold could keep chess enthusiast at bay. The top 8 Namibian players in each age group plus the best two female players outside the top 8 have qualified for the Namibian Junior Closed Chess Championships slated for 10-12 July in Windhoek. Apart from crowning Namibia’s various age-group champions, this tournament, to be played at the Hotel Thuringerhof, will also see the selection of the National junior teams to represent Namibia internationally. Gariseb is the National Junior Champion after winning the Closed last year at the Windhoek Showgrounds.
