Southern Business School Namibia honoured and awarded 135 graduates with degrees for different programmes during last week’s ceremony in Windhoek.
Albin Jacobs, Director of SBS Namibia presided over the graduation as Master of ceremonies.
In an address read on his behalf by Sandra van Zyl, the Minister of Education Hon. Dr David Namwandi, said to students, “One of my key goals for education is to bring out the best in every Namibian, in every sector of education, in every school, at every stage of the learning journey, whatever the starting point. The Namibian Government is committed to providing opportunities for every Namibian to succeed.
Southern Business School exemplifies the MOE’s endeavour to provide diverse pathways that cater to our students’ aspirations, needs and talents. Through the provision of distance education, Southern Business School is broadening the access to higher education for Namibians. I am happy that Southern Business School has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 1996.

It has been transformed into an institution that offers Masters Degrees.” “This is in line with the MOE’s drive to improve access to post graduate higher education in the country. Participation in Higher Education at this level needs to be improved. We need to build capacity in the field of research and this is one step in the right direction towards knowledge creation,” he added.
Said Jacobs, “The 135 graduates receiving their certificates, degrees and diplomas from SBS Namibia at the ceremony represent a new way of acquiring knowledge and taking steps to really contribute to the Namibian economy.”
He continued to say that these students are not only ensuring a better life for themselves through education, but they are empowering the nation through knowledge. “That is an incredibly powerful notion and one that we at SBS Namibia are extremely proud of and in turn we share in the pride and accomplishments of our students who have worked so hard,” he said.
