Not so light trail

Windhoek Light in conjunction with Otb Sport and Midgard Country Lodge will host the Xtrail run and Mountain Bike ride in the picturesque mountains Sunday.
Both the 8 kilometre and 15 kilometre Xtrail run route head into the game park and across the Swakop River where participants will encounter a variety of wildlife on their route.
The 8 kilometre route then heads up the koppie, where there is a small section where the grass has been cut down to accommodate the lack of a formal road. The route will be marked and marshalled. From there the route crosses rolling hills to the finish.
The 15 kilometre route ambles a bit further into the game park and heads up the mountain to the top, named God’s Window. The first section of the climb is a new path, prepared specially for the event. The climb continues on the Jeep track. This is a demanding climb, but the end views are well worth it.
Besides the Xtrail and OTB event people can enjoy the other activities Midgard Resort offers such as volleyball, kegelbahn, mountain climbing routes with participants urged to bring along their own equipment.
