The two “development” teams that represented Namibia at the International Triples Tournament held in Botswana last weekend, managed to secure some good results. The Namibian teams that took to Francis Town comprised of one experienced and two inexperienced players, giving the uncapped players a chance to gain much needed experience on an  international level. While the Team 1, consisting of Otto Krahenbühl, Rinette de Kock and Amanda Steenkamp won the silver medal, their compatriots Dave Gibbons, Steven Peak and Anjuleen Viljoen of Team 2 came in fourth.
Both squads had a strong start in the 12 team tournament, beating Botswana with 19:5 and 16:13 respectively. Their good form continued when Team 1 and 2 (18:7 and 27:7) kept an upper hand against Botswana again in their second match. However, Team 2 narrowly lost their third game against Botswana with 10:13, while Team 1 stayed unbeaten, keeping Botswana at bay with 15:14. The two Namibian squads then celebrated a victory each in their last group game against Zambia. The games ended 19:13 and 25:8 respectively. Their unbeaten run secured Team 1 a place in the final. Team 2 on the other hand had to settle for the game that would determine the 3rd and 4th place. Although Team 1 displayed great bowls, it was not enough to see off the Botswana team that eventually went on to win with 22:15. Team 2 also lost their game with 22:10 against the hosts.
