Walvis Bay- “a city at work”

One of the greatest challenges faced by the city of Walvis Bay- along side high levels of unemployment, poverty and diseases is the need for affordable shelter.
It was duly noted in a statement given by the city Mayor, at the Ordinary Council Meeting held at the civic centre on 30 July, that the Municipal Council of Walvis Bay is prepared to go to great lengths in ensuring that residents’ expectations are met, and even surpassed.
Nevertheless, the municipality haven’t let their guard down, but rather: new buildings have mushroomed, earthworks are being carried out and residential suburbs, industrial and commercial activities have grown significantly
These signs have been perceived as a “vibrant city at work” towards making life better for its inhabitants and creating opportunities for services in health, work and leisure.
On another note the mayor shared his grieved concern over the numerous number of fatal accidents -evidently seen from tokens as in memory of road traffic victims – along the trunk road between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.
She urged all motorists to adhere to all road signs and regulations in order to prevent road traffic accidents and that they should remember each cross represents a life lost.
Among those attending the meeting were; Councillor Benson Uakumbua, Deputy Mayor of the Port City of Walvis Bay and Councillor Immanuel Wilfred, Chairperson of the Management.
