NB Namibia and TASA, the Tour and Safari Association of Namibia have advised that an agreement for the following three years has been reached with FNB Namibia with a total value of N $120,000.
TASA chairperson, Martin Wiemers: “The Tour and Safari Association of Namibia (TASA) would like to thank FNB Namibia for their support during the last 3 years. The Corporate Membership contribution of FNB Namibia has been used for tourism bursaries as well as to generally further the aims of the Association and to help fund BEE Membership.”
Ian Leyenaar, CEO of FNB Namibia said that FNB has been a proud supporter of the tourism industry in Namibia for a number of years. Adding: “We are, amongst many other initiatives in the tourism sector, also proud to be a key local supporter of the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) and we provided more than five hundred thousand Namibia Dollars to assist the Namibian tourism trade to make the ATWS a truly unforgettable event globally. These funds are specifically earmarked for you: the tour operators, who have provided innovative and exciting itineraries for the international delegates. FNB’s sponsorship will help operationalise the “Two Day of Adventures” and the “Pre-Summit Adventures” by providing financial support in the form of a subsidy through the ATWS secretariat to Namibian tour operators.”
Leyenaar continued to say that FNB Namibia – in addition – and in line with FNB’s focus on innovation, is also in the process to try and have a mobile app developed, which will allow all ATWS delegates to rate all the establishments they are staying at. “We hope to agree with you to add a bit of fun by inviting one lucky delegate for a return trip to the establishment that scored the highest rating by the delegates. The app will be donated to the tourism industry associations after the ATWS to enhance the current feedback system they are using.”
