Consumer Price Index

The All Items Consumer Price Index for March 2013 increased by 0.8 percentage points from 201.9 recorded in February to 202.7. This increase translates into a monthly inflation rate for March 2013 of 0.4 %, recording the same monthly rate of inflation as in February 2013.
The Food and Non alcoholic beverages index for March 2013 increased to 238.54 from 237.65 recorded in February 2013 resulting in a monthly increase of 0.9 percentage points. This increase was caused by increases recorded in the subgroups of vegetables including potatoes and tubers (4.2 %); sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolate and confectionery (2.8 %); milk, cheese and eggs (0.9 %); coffee, tea and cocoa (0.8 %) and fish (0.6 %).
On the other hand, a few categories such as oil and fats; bread and cereals; and meat recorded price declines during March 2013 compared to February 2013.
