A German basketball expert left the country recently after conducting a two-week training in the Oshikoto and Oshana regions.
Peter Schey was in the country courtesy of  the German Federal Foreign Office and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).
Sixty coaches, teachers and older players with interest in coaching youth basketball participated in the clinics. The main topics covered included offensive skills and drills as well as the introduction of the new International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3×3 competition, suitable for Namibian conditions.
It was Schey’s second visit to Namibia after his successful short-term project in November 2010 to the same regions.
Schey was impressed by the commitment and dedication of the participants. “I hope they keep
up the good work and continue involving and developing more young players,” he said after completing his mission.
The 42-year-old teacher and former first league basketball player returned to Germany on 10 November.
