Top Score takes North by storm with upcoming 7-a-Side social soccer

Twenty eight teams have entered this year’s Top Score 7-a-Side soccer tournament which was launched in Oshakati on Wednesday evening, 25 July.

Official sponsor and organiser, Namib Mills have contributed more than N$165,000 to host the second annual 7-a-Side tournie. Last year, the inaugural tournament drew 22 participating teams.

Fans and supporters of social soccer are encouraged to bring their camping chairs and come and support their favourite teams as they compete for this prestigious title. Entrance is free and the games will take place weekdays at 18h00 and Saturday afternoon at 14:00 at the Oshakati Soccer Stadium.

The winning team bags N$10,000, the runner-ups N$5,500, the third N$3,500 and the fourth N$2,000.

“The event is Namibia’s largest social soccer tournament; It aims to provide community upliftment and engagement, and it is Namib Mill’s way of rewarding those dedicated and disciplined sportsmen who continue to show spirit and persistence in their support for the Top Score 7-a-Side soccer tournament” said Ashante Manetti, Namib Mills’ Public Relations, Corporate Social Responsiblity and Stakeholder practitioner, at the launch.

Soccer teams in attendance at the launch showed a lot of excitement and team spirit, showing that they are ready to bring their A-game to the tournament in the hope of becoming the next Top Score Northern 7-a-Side champions.

“A trophy carries dust but memories last forever so we want to encourage each and every team not only to give their best in the tournament but also to enjoy this opportunity to be in the company of fellow soccer lovers who continue to show support; dedication and passion for the game and the Top Score 7-a-side tournament” said Manetti.
