Who will host the NAMA music awards?

In a world where talent is always hidden in the periphery and goes unnoticed in most instances – some sourcing has begun for the 2013 NAMA MC Auditions held on Tuesday this week when hordes of young hopefuls thronged the National Theatre of Namibia to audition for the role of Master of Ceremonies at the Awards Ceremony of the NAMA music awards later this month.
Talent was plenty with the jury spoiled for choices, scratching their heads over the amazing talents that auditioned on Tuesday. The Namibian Annual Music Awards exist to recognize accomplishment in the Namibian recording industry by celebrating those groups and individuals who have excelled in the past year.
“Our approach and objective was simple, in it that we wanted to source for talented individuals – who will entertain effortlessly, someone with warmth, intimacy with wit and an articulate speech, a person who adds value to the event but not detracting from it, playing host to the most spectacular evening, said Tim Ekandjo, Executive Member of the Nama Executive Committee.
As part of the audition process individuals that came for the auditions were given different scenarios in which they had to improvise and think on their feet while keeping the live audience entertained.
“It was indeed exciting to see the attendance, how exciting and well attended the MC auditions were, with over 50 people attending. We have identified talent for the next three years and will work with the candidates we identified as part of the NAMA academy so that we build capacity in the field of MC’ing and public speaking to a large audience which is not always possible, said Ekandjo.
The successful candidate will be announced closer to the NAMA main awards ceremony. Meanwhile Ticket sales have commenced.
VIP tickets sell for N$250, Premium tickets for N$120 and Standard tickets for N$80. They are available from all Computicket Outlets found in any Shoprite or Checkers Supermarket country wide. No tickets will be sold at the venue. The NAMA Mucis Awards take place on 20 April 2013 at the abandoned Ramatex factory.
