Healing Hands treatment a success

The medical treatment for the first candidate to benefit from Properity Group of Companies “Healing Hands” initiative was decribed as successful. Mrs. Maria Orlanda Martins from Walvis Bay who suffered from poor vision, underwent her treatment at the Welwitschia Hospital and had an extra capsular extraction and lens inserted in one of her eyes. The operation which took place on 22 June 2012 was conducted by Dr. John Benade.
The Healing Hands project is an initiative by the Prosperity Group. It was launched in 2011 as part of the company’s corporate social investment, aimed at reaching out to individuals who are in need of medical attention but are not covered by medical aid. Many candidates were nominated from which six successful nominees were selected by a panel to benefit from the medical treatment, compliments of Prosperity Group of Companies.

Mrs. Martins, who is currently in the healing process will soon undergo the next operation on her other eye.
Other nominated candidates are Ettienne Groenewaldt from Rehoboth, Francis Scott and Amanda Kaipiti from Windhoek, Maxton Coetie from Keetmanshoop and Joshua Engelbrecht from Walvis Bay. Medical treatment that the candidates will receive include muscular hole repair, corneal transplant and provision of a suction pump, amongst others. Each candidate will be treated by a medical practitioner in his or her respective region.
