05 December 2016 – MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, Promoter and Manager, Nestor Tobias on Monday said that Namibia has a factory to produce World Champions, following Julius ‘Blue machine’ Indongo win over the weekend.
Tobias said this in Windhoek, when the Namibian boxing team, including the champ, Indongo arrived from Russia, to a hero’s welcome.
After a mere 40 seconds into the first round of a scheduled 12-round bout, Julius ‘Blue machine’ Indongo knocked the wind out off Russian and former IBF World Champ Eduard Tryoyanovsky, which resulted in a knock-out.
Indogo clinched both the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) titles, moving him up the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rankings to second. Indongo was currently ranked fourth by the WBO, and this was his first shot at a world title.
According to Tobias, their boxing camp had made a plan for the fight and his fighter was confidence before the fight. “We produced a unified champion this year. This is the highest achievement the country’s boxing fraternity has reached and we can safely say we have the factory to Produce world Champions,” he added.
Before the fight, Indongo had an clean record of 20 wins out of 20 fights, with 10 of those wins coming via a knock-out and following his recent knock- out of the Russian he added another notch under his belt.
Indongo said that when he entered the ring he was focused. “The punches I threw were calculated and when I landed the snap punch, I knew I had got him,” he added.
Indongo thanked his sparring partners and sponsors in what he described as an achievement that will go down in the Namibian history books.
Meanwhile, in terms of a rematch with the Russian, main sponsor, MTC, through it’s chief human capital and corporate officer, Tim Ekandjo , said the two parties had not signed a rematch clause and in that light the Namibian champion can choose which ever other fighter to take on, in defence of his title.
The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, over the years had produced a number of champions in the form of two former World boxing Champions the likes of Paulus ‘The Rock ‘Ambunda and Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses.
“Namibia boxing is going places. As boxing is growing more and more in the country, I am confident that more champions can be produced,” he said.
