Boxing academy impresses sponsors

MTC this week revealed that their N$3.2 million annual investment into the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy has not gone to waste as the academy keeps on delivering.
MTC sponsors the Academy and has signed a 3-year agreement with the stable. The telecommunications company said that despite the fact that they sponsored various sports codes in the past, they are quite impressed with the academy.
The Chief Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Officer at MTC, Tim Ekandjo said that the academy is a professional structure with a crystal clear strategic vision in terms of where they want to see each of their boxers in terms of growth and development.
“We are impressed by their professionalism and how organized they are when approaching every fight. Their marketing strategy is effective, they have established excellent relationships with all media houses and importantly gotten the media interested in not just reporting on fights but also enjoying the fights live while reporting. Clearly boxing has become the number one sports in Namibia,” Ekandjo stated.
According to MTC, the quality of the academy’s product has attracted the interest of Africa’s biggest sports channel Supersport, and their fights continue to go live on the national broadcaster, NBC, and these incredible achievements matter because not only does it allow us to celebrate Namibia’s boxing talent, but it also allows to create role models, create unity, and re-emphasize the importance of sports as an important platform for nation building.
“We are happy with the record crowds each of their fights attract, and people will only come in their numbers once they have confidence that what they are paying for is quality product, and in a safe environment. We are impressed that the MTC Sunshine Academy’s fights attract people from all walks of life, irrespective of their social or economic class, and it gives us great pleasure to see our customers coming together to just enjoy themselves, and reap the benefits of their loyal support to MTC and the events we sponsor,” Ekandjo added.
The Academy has already successfully produced three world titles, and two world champions, various international and African champions, staged one of the biggest unification bouts in the history of African and international boxing. The academy was also recently awarded the Best Promoter in Africa Award by the World Boxing Organization.

Today the Typesetter is a position at a newspaper that is mostly outdated since lead typesetting disappeared about fifty years ago. It is however a convenient term to indicate a person that is responsible for the technical refinement of publishing including web publishing. The Typesetter does not contribute to editorial content but makes sure that all elements are where they belong. - Ed.
