Pick n Pay Cycle Classic set in motion

The Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic, one of the most anticipated family cycling events on the sports calendar, was officially launched at a special luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club Windhoek (RCW), the main organizers of the event, last week.
The charity fund-raising event’s main sponsors are Pick n Pay Namibia, a subsidiary of the O&L Group and The Namibian newspaper.
Pick n Pay this year increased its cash contribution to N$150, 000 from last year’s N$120,000. According to the O&L Group Corporate Communications Manager, Roux-che Locke who spoke on behalf of PnP Namibia, and officially launched the event, PnP will also support the participation of Cycle Classic at the Dagbreek School – a facility that caters for the physically and intellectually challenged.
Locke said, “While we encourage our staff to support the Cycle Classic by volunteering their time to assist with co-organizing the event, I am pleased to advise that PnP will once again avail all of our 23 branches countrywide to help the organizing team with the marketing and promotion of this year’s edition of the event”.
Namibia Breweries Limited is also a sponsor of the Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic.
NBL stepped on board last year and continues its journey through its brands Windhoek Light which sponsored N$30,000 in cash; VIGO sponsored N$15,000, and Aquasplash also sponsored N$15,000 in cash. NBL further sponsors refreshments to the value of N$20,000 for the participants, and will provide logistical support, i.e. tables, tents, benches and a gig rig.
NBL Senior Manager: Brands, Claudia Opperman said, “While we are committed to involve ourselves in the communities in which we operate through our group purpose of ‘Creating a future, Enhancing life’, The Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic is also a fun-filled event”.
According to Danny Meyer from the Rotary Club Windhoek and Convener of the 2016 Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic, the cash sponsorship by NBL will be used as prize money for the winners in the various categories of the Mountain Bike (MTB) and Road Bike (RB) races.
The 2016 The Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic is co-sponsored by Windhoek Pedal Power.

It is however a convenient term to indicate a person that is responsible for the technical refinement of publishing including web publishing. The Typesetter does not contribute to editorial content but makes sure that all elements are where they belong. - Ed.
