Sanlam Cancer golf tourney concluded

Omeya Golf Club hosted the Sanlam Cancer Challenge Regional Final last weekend. A field of thirty three men and twelve ladies representing fifteen different golf clubs teed it up on a very windy day.

Even though the conditions were tough the winners in the Men’s A and B Divisions played to their handicaps or lower to win their respective divisions.
Douw van Wyk took the honours in the A Divisions with 36 points and Omeya’s own Deon Kotze showed the visitors in the B Division how things are done with a brilliant 37 points.
In the Ladies Section the A and C divisions had runaway winners with Wilna Bredenhann scoring 37 points in the A Division beating here closest rival, Adri Pienaar by four points. Mary-Ann Boltmann played three under her handicap for a magnificent 39 points in the C Division.
The final results are as follows:
Men’s A Division – Douw van Wyk (Mariental Golf Club) on 36 points
Men’s B Division – Deon Kotze (Omeya Golf Club) on 37 points
Men’s C Division – Werner Borg (Rossmund Golf Club) on 31 points
Ladies A Division – Wilna Bredenhann (Hentiesbaai Golf Club) on 37 points
Ladies B Division – Berdine Nolte-Prinsloo (Omeya Golf Club) on 27 points
Ladies C Division – Mary-Ann Boltman (Windhoek Golf & Country Club) on 39 points
All these division winners have won themselves an all-inclusive trip to Sun City to participate in the Sanlam Cancer Challenge Final to be played on the Lost City Golf Course and the Gary Player Country Club on 19 and 20 October.
