Next Stop, Rugby World Cup in the UK

The Namibian National Rugby team, the Welwitchias, celebrate after an emphatic win over the Sables of Zimbabwe last weekend during the Africa Cup Division 1A Championships which were played in Windhoek.

In what was a one-sided affair, the Welwitchias crushed Zimbabwe 80 to 6. During the first half, the Sables tried to put on a brave act but the writing was on the wall as the second half belonged to the Welwitchias who scored tries willy nilly. The next stop for the Welwitchias will be the 2015 Rugby World Cup to be hosted by England from 18 September to 31 October. Namibia plays in the Pool stage (Pool C) against New Zealand, Tonga, Georgia and Argentina. The main aim of Namibia is to win its first Rugby match in a World Cup. See article on page 16.
