Indian folk dance troupe performs in Windhoek
The High Commission of India and the Directorate Arts in the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture have partnered to bring this vibrant performance to Windhoek. The show will present authentic performances of Bhangra and Giddha, a vibrant dance form from North India, in Windhoek on 13 October 2013 at the Zoo Park, starting at 18:00.
This cultural performance forms part of the cultural agreement between the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Namibia.
Bhangra and Giddha are vibrant dance forms from the Indian State of Punjab and are traditionally practised to celebrate harvest. The 12-member dance group, led by Ms Preetihas, has achieved international acclaim, and will arrive in Windhoek on 11 October 2015.
A curtain raiser is planned for students of the Polytechnic on 12 October at the Polytechnic campus in Windhoek at 18:00 to give the students’ exposure to Indian Folklore and entertainment.
The Indian High Commission said the two performances promise to be an explosion of energy and exquisite Indian traditional costumes.
