Star athletes receive sponsorship

First National Bank (FNB) recently handed over N$400,000 to the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC). The NNOC identified four elite athletes as beneficiaries of the FNB Olympic Scholarships including: Gaby Ahrens- clay target shooting, Beata Naigambo – Marathon, Helalia Johannes – Marathon and Dan Craven – road cycling. The athletes were the first Namibians to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London this year. The money will be used solely for preparatory purposes of these four star athletes. The FNB Namibia Foundation became involved with the Namibian National Olympic Committee over four years ago with the specific aim of preparing qualifying athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games.
