The Trustco Group challenged MTC to a neknomination and the mobile operator immediately took up the challenge. Therefore MTC put their neknomination to the test and did random acts of kindness last week.
Neknominations are the latest social media buzz where one company challenges another to better their contributions to charity. MTC handed out tango recharge vouchers to the public during the morning hours of Friday last week. Keen MTC staff members handed out the vouchers to a delighted public at the corner of Independence Avenue and Hans Dietrich Gentscher Street, Florence Nightingale and Andrew Kloppers Street, Independence Avenue and Karl List Strasse and the busy intersection of Jan Jonker Road and Robert Mugabe close to Mareua Mall.

The act of giving also happened in front of the MTC Head Office in Olympia. After they had handed out the recharge vouchers, the MTC employees visited kindergartens and pre-primary schools where they handed out juices and snacks to the children. They visited the Orphans Future Children Hope in Agste Laan, Queen Pre-Primary School in Goreangab, Maria Kindergarten in Havana and Welakapela Pre-Primary in Suiderhof. After fulfilling their neknomination challenge, MTC then issued a similar challenge the O&L Group and to Pep Stores to show kindness to random people.
Trustco did their neknomination by giving out chocolates and making available N$20,000 of which N$10,000 will go to a charity and the other ten thousand to a lucky participant who nominates the recipient charity. It was at this announcement that Trustco neknominated MTC to outdo them, and it had to be done within seven days.
On the African continent,  neknominations first reached South Africa where challengers asked their competitors to stop using alcohol at functions and use this money to do good instead. This created a wave of goodwill that is rushing through the African corporate world.
