6% Cost to Company

The Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU) last week signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Salaries and Benefits with Telecom Namibia to review remuneration for the financial year 2013/2014. The increases as described in the memorandum will be implemented with effect from 1 October, and will cost Telecom N$23 million for the 2013/2014 financial year. The increments generally make provision for a 6% increase in Total Cost to Company with differential adjustments for various categories of employees. On the specifics, Monthly Housing Allowance for employees in Paterson Job grades A2 to C3 will be increased by N$200 monthly, Transport Allowance from N$965 to N$1015, Subsistence and Travel Allowance from N$225 to N$275 per day, Daily Trip Allowance from N$45 to N$95, Special Standby to be increased from N$72 to N$87 and the Housing Loan Guarantee maximum qualifying amount will be increased by N$80,000.
