Dairy accident

A bus transporting Namibia Dairies employees was in an accident. The bus was carrying Namibia Dairies employees who were enroute to the Avis plant depot to report for duty.
The Emangweni bus contracted by Namibia Dairies to transport staff, overturned at the Robert Mugabe Avenue and Eadie Street intersection in Klein-Windhoek around 07h00 on Thursday morning.
65 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. 16 sustained injuries and four of those were serious and were all admitted at Katutura State Hospital.
In a statement, Namibia Dairies announced its regret and dismay at the unfortunate incident which left some of its employees seriously injured.
“Our Management team has been dispatched to the various medical institutions where the injured have been admitted in order to render the necessary support to our staff and their immediate families. Whilst we regret this unfortunate incident, we are grateful that no fatalities were recorded. It is business-as-usual at the Avis plant, while our internal risk and investigation team, together with the Namibian Police, are working round the clock to determine the cause of the accident. We sincerely wish our employees a speedy recovery,” said, Group Manager: External Relations, Roux-ché Locke.
