5th International Day of Yoga set for Saturday in Windhoek

The High Commission of India on Saturday will host the Fifth International Day of Yoga (IDY) at United Athletic Field of Windhoek Gymnasium School, Sean McBride Street (near Trustco Field), Olympia, Windhoek from 0900 to 1030 hours.

According to the Commission, successful celebrations of the IDY have been held over the last four years globally, as also in Namibia with participation of a large number of yoga practitioners and enthusiasts.

Yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously passed a resolution in December 2014 declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga recognising holistic benefits of Yoga for our health and well-being, and for achieving peace, internal and external harmony, and happiness.
