Mbazuvara, Kamberipa call for the nation’s support ahead of AFCON

NFA – Defender Ivan Kamberipa and goalkeeper Ratanda Mbazuvara made the cut for the final 23 men squad to represent Namibia at the AFCON Finals and the duo attributed their selection into the squad to hard work.

Kamberipa, said it all started at the 2019 Cosafa Cup in Durban where he started against Seychelles and the team won 3-0.

“For me it all started at Cosafa when the coaches gave me the chance to express myself and I took the chance with all I have and did my best. I’m delighted to have made it into the final team and I urge all Namibians to rally behind us and we will do all we can to make them proud,” Kamberipa stated.

His club teammate and goalkeeper Raranda Mbazuvara is one of three keepers for the Finals and he can’t wait for the tournament to start.

“We both had a very good season back home with Stars and at Cosafa too we pushed hard and our hard work has paid off. We are here on merit and we will push the others so that we do well. With God by our side we can surprise the world,” he added.

The Brave Warriors are in Group D at the 32nd AFCON finals and will play Morocco on 23 June before taking on South Africa on 28 June, both at Al Salam Stadium. They will play their final group game against Ivory Coast on 1 July at Cairo International Stadium.
