Tourguides mobilise

As part of their internal drive to bring more structure to the tourguide profession, a new board was recently elected for the local representative organisation. The Tourist Guides Association of Namibia held its annual general meeting earlier in March at Gondwana Shebeen where the board members for the executive committee were duly nominated and elected. In the picture are from the left in the back row: Tommie Britz, Meke Imbili (Secretary), Rolf Heinrich, Fausten Kupasula and Paulo de Oliveira. In the front row: Kurt Schlenther (Chairperson), Waltraut Fritzsche, Gudrun Middendorff (Treasurer), Danica Smith (Vice-Chairperson. Not present at the meeting but also part of the board are outgoing Chairman, Claus Dau as well as Armin Jagdhuber, Werner Schlierkamp and Hugo Haussmann. The new committee said in a statement released after the meeting, it assures guides, stakeholders and the public that “we will continue to advocate for responsible guiding and uphold our Code of Conduct to ensure the growth of the Association.”
