Intellects to train in tracer studies

The National Council for Higher Education in conjunction with higher education experts from Germany and Indonesia is organising a series of training workshops on tracer studies for some public and private higher education institutions in Namibia.
The Namibia Graduate Tracer Study Training (NAMTRACE) is aimed at lecturers and other functionaries at the University of Namibia, Polytechnic of Namibia and International University of Management who will be trained to realise in future graduate tracer studies at the respective institutions. The aim of the training is to enable the participants to conduct professional tracer studies.
Participants will be trained by experienced researches from Germany and Indonesia in the major steps of trace studies which are questionnaire development based on relevant theories and specific research questions, research methodology, organisation of the field work, methods to achieve a high response rate, data entry and data editing, coding, data analysis, interpretation of findings and reporting. Furthermore, the training will be realised in three consecutive workshops comprising the following components; survey preparation, data analysis and interpretation of findings and dissemination. The first workshop runs from 18 March 2013 in Windhoek. The need for tracer studies is becoming more relevant because higher education institutions should provide empirical evidence regarding the professional relevance of their study programmes.
