The Namibian Police (Nampol) have constructed a permanent road block on the Trans Kalahari Highway near Kapps farm en route to the Hosea Kutako Airport.
According to Deputy Commissioner at Nampol’s Public Relations Directorate, Edwin Kanguatjivi, Nampol saw it fit to construct a road block building a long that road.
“It is a consolidation of resources rather than to transport our officers to and from the road block we have housed our people near the police station. We decided to put a roof over the building to shelter our people against the rain and the heat,” he said.
The construction of the building which started mid last year is said to have cost close to N$10million and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
Kanguatjivi further said, Nampol hopes that construction will be completed soon in readiness for the official handover of the building at the end of this month.
Kanguatjivi also said that there are plans to build more permanent road blocks around the country and that Nampol is currently looking at building permanent road blocks in Rehoboth and Okahandja.
The road block is constructed by Namibia Swedish Werke Construction Company.
