Regional Debmarine Namibia Cup to kick off in March
The second edition of the Debmarine Namibia Cup will return with official launch and draw for the Round of 32 set to take place on 15 March, in Windhoek, according to Namibia Football Secretariat, Secretary General Barry Rukoro
During the launch all the information regarding what to look forward to during the 2018 competition will be revealed and we are very excited to have finally make this announcement following consultations with our revered sponsors, Debmarine Namibia, asaid Rukoro.
“This is the cup that everyone wants to win and in fact, the only cup at moment and we all cherish the investments of Debmarine Namibia,” he added.
The SG said that the Elimination Rounds for the First and Second Divisions are scheduled to take place on the weekends of 03 – 04 March and 10 – 11 March, while the draw for the second divisions elimination, pitting two regions against each other will take place on 12 March and that eliminator scheduled to take place on 17 March.
“The responsibility for organizing, hosting, booking of venues including the draw for the elimination rounds matches for the competition is with the Executive Committee of the respective regional Leagues,” he said.
Meawnhile NFA members are advised to conclude the draw for the fixtures of the Elimination Rounds of the respective regions by the latest 27 February, and forward them to the NFA Secretariat.
Last year at Gobabis, Young Africans were crowned champions after extra time, besting Mighty Gunners 3-2. Itamunua Keimuine of Tura Magic walked away with the Top goal scorer award (N$20,000) thanks to his five goals; and Young African’s Himeezembi Hengombe was voted Player of the Tournament (N$20,000). African coach Maleagi Ngarizemo won the Coach of the Tournament gog (N$15,000) and another African representative Goalkeeper Mata Mbemutjiua got the Golden Gloves Award (N$ 15,000) as well.
