Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre gets face-lift

The Cancer Association of Namibia invested N$150,000 towards renovations at the Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre at Windhoek Central Hospital. The renovations for the Centre commenced in October last year and the final touches are being done to both treatment and radiotherapy sections of the Centre this month.

Rolf Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of the Association said, “We are proud to be able to better the treatment conditions for the brave Namibian cancer fighters and also help create a better working environment for our Ministry of Health and Social Services medical teams.”

The renovations included fixing broken bathroom, new waiting room chairs, pot plants, chemotherapy infusion chairs, fixing and replacing of overhead lights and installation of extractor fans throughout the treatment rooms for better ventilation.

Satellite receivers and flat screen televisions for patients to watch television while waiting, as well as information material and reading magazines to keep the time occupied were also donated.

CAN thanked Namibia Breweries Limited which always lends a helping financial hand to House Acacia Interim Home and the Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre as well as the Namibian community who stand behind them to support persons diagnosed with cancer.
