Mega Walvis Dunes Mall set opening date for 26 October

As from 26 October 2017, Walvis Bay will probably never be quite the same again when the almost 80 tenants in the new Dunes Mall open their doors to the public for the first time.

Mall developer, Atterbury from South Africa stated last week that the 27,500 square metre mall is in the final stages of completion and that everything is on schedule for the official opening.

The new N$500 million Walvis Bay mall is developed in partnership with local developer, Tradehold. Atterbury has also been the development partner for the Grove Mall in Windhoek. Dunes Mall is located a stone-throw from the large intersection that leads to the Walvis Bay Airport.

“We have designed and built a shopping centre that would stand out anywhere. The design and finishes are of a high quality and there will be no need for locals to leave Walvis anymore, there will be a quality shopping centre on their doorstep,” stated Development Manager for Atterbury, Evert Kleynhans.

The centre is anchored by a 3,500m2 Checkers, a 2,700m2 Pick n Pay and a 1,700m2 Woolworths. Adding to the mix is a 1,500m2 Dis-Chem and a 1,800m2 House and Home. Fashion retailers are well represented with retail offerings from Cotton On, Truworths, Mr Price Group, Foschini Group and Pepkor Group.

The mall which will be managed by Atterbury, is the largest at the coast and the second largest in Namibia after the Grove Mall in Windhoek.

“On completion there will be around 80 shops, all of which will be employing local people, creating a very positive impact on the local economy,” Kleynhans said.
