NPL pre-season tournament sets off

This weekend, 14 September, 12 league teams will take part in the first pre-season tournament that was launched during the week by the Namibia Premier League. Chairman of the Namibia Premier League Johnny Doeseb said that this cup will allow the teams to test the ground as well as their players before the league starts the following weekend, Friday 21 September.
The tournament will allow the 12 teams in the Namibia Premier League to register 25 players for the three-day soccer thrill starting Friday, 19:00 at the Independence Stadium with the first game kicking off between Tigers and the Rundu Chiefs.
The Namibia Premier League also confirmed that they will give teams based outside Windhoek a grant of N$20,000 and for the Windhoek based teams, an amount of N$15,000.
The quarter finals will be held at the Independence Stadium, and the Finals at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday. The entrance fee for all matches is N$30.
During the launch, Doeseb also confirmed that the Namibia Premier League is currently negotiating league cups and aim to host three cups for this season including the NFA Cup which will allow players to have more matches and in turn increase preparation of the players for continental games.
Cymot SKW will battle it out against Tura Magic at the Independence Stadium, Blue Waters against Mighty Gunners also at the Independence Stadium as well as Eleven Arrows vs FNB Orlando Pirates. The match of Civics vs African Stars will take place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium as well as that of Ramblers against Black Africa.
