“Today’s ceremony is therefore indicative of the coordinating role given to our Ministry. If we were a food distributing Ministry only, as by popular believe, we could have said, “Honourable Governor, please we do not deal with water, instead approach the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry”. But as a coordinating Ministry it was our responsibility to connect the relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the task at hand for the benefit of our people.,” he said.

At the event the minister emphasised the need for more action and less talking. “The time for well-articulated statements is slowly running out, as our people continue to suffer the consequences of our lack of action and implementation. Let us do away with the selfish attitude of forgetting the needs and aspirations of our fellow citizens, once we have accomplished ours. Remember our common goal is Prosperity for All Namibians,” he said.

According to the minister, his ministry was created with a key responsibility of leading the war that will ensure that poverty is eradicated in Namibia.

“One cannot emphasise enough the multi-faceted nature of poverty and the fact that the Government has been committed to fighting poverty ever since independence,” he added.
