Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) this week handed a donation of N$5000 to the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Hon John Mutorwa, in his capacity as patron of the Educational Development Trust (EDT).
At the handover Mutorwa said: “Today is a historical and memorable day for the Educational Development Trust. It is the first time the EDT is receiving a financial donation from a body corporate or business entity in our country. Thank you NBL.”
The Educational Development Trust was established in 1997 and has over the years supported a number of poor people with their tertiary education. The trust was established to support and facilitate the empowerment of rural communities, to identify and articulate their academic needs and requirements, and to take the initiative in pursuing and enhancing their overall educational needs.
Mutorwa said the functions, purpose and objective of the EDT are in line and complementary to the government’s efforts to reach the development goals for the country as a whole. The most recent formalised set of goals are contained in the Fourth National Development Plan released a month ago. A broader platform of development goals is articulated in Vision 2030.
