Distance education a viable alternative

Distance education a viable alternative

Southern Business School’s local branch recently graduated 225 students. At the ceremony, the Director of SBS Namibia, Albin Jacobs, described distance education to be a real and viable alternative to pursuing tertiary education.

The various graduates received Masters Degrees, Bachelor Degrees (Honours), Certificates in Management as well as Advanced degrees. According to Jacobs most of the students sacrificed a lot to obtain these NQA recognised qualifications.

“Sleepless nights, time away from family, missing out on social engagement just to finish the required assignments all have led to this graduation ceremony for the students,” added Jacobs.

CEO of the Namibia Training Authority, Jerry Beukes, gave the keynote address and emphasised the need for education and educated people to help in building up the national economy further.

“Most of the graduates today were juggling a full-time job whilst opting to pursue tertiary education through Distance Learning with SBS Namibia. Not an easy road to take when wanting to improve your education levels, but ultimately very rewarding for both the individual and the country,” Beukes said.

Meanwhile, Jacobs added that the graduates are not only ensuring a better life for themselves through education, but are empowering the nation through knowledge.
